Ex-HoSF, Oyo-Ita, Gets Bail of N100m in Alleged N400m Fraud

Justice Taiwo Taiwo of the Abuja Division of the Federal High Court on Monday admitted former Head of Service of the Federation (HoSF), Mrs Winifred Oyo-Ita, to bail in the sum of N100m with two sureties in like sum.

Also admitted to bail however in the sum of N50m each were two other defendants standing trial alongside the former HoS, Mr Garba Umar and Mr Ubong Effiok.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had earlier in the day arraigned the trio alongside five companies on alleged fraud and money laundering to the tune of N400 million.

However, taken into consideration the Coronavirus pandemic, Justice Taiwo ordered that the defendants be kept in the custody of their lawyers pending the perfection of their bail.

Justice Taiwo, who directed that the defendants report to the EFCC daily however gave them seven days to perfect their bail or else would be remanded in the custody of the EFCC.
